We aim to foster a diverse and inclusive RIPE Meeting where all attendees feel welcome to participate. We support and organise several initiatives that aim to make it easier for people from underrepresented groups to take part in a RIPE Meeting. Here is a summary of our diversity and inclusion efforts:
The RIPE Code of Conduct
The RIPE Code of Conduct covers all participation in RIPE, which means it applies equally to interaction over the Internet or in person.
Code of Conduct Team
Everyone who takes part in RIPE 89 shares a responsibility to follow the RIPE Code of Conduct and should look after each other. However, if you feel that someone has behaved inappropriately towards you at the meeting, you can reach out to the Code of Conduct Team.
If you feel you have been subjected to behaviour contrary to the environment that the RIPE Meetings attempt to achieve, or if you have any other concerns, please contact them at conduct-report [at] ripe [dot] net. They will provide support.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Tech Session
Tuesday, 29 October 18:00 – 19:00 (UTC+1)
We believe that diversity is one of our strengths. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Tech session aims to support us in shaping a safer, more inclusive, open and welcoming RIPE community. We aim to remove barriers that prevent participation, particularly those that affect underrepresented groups in the community.
Join the open discussion on topics of neurodiversity, physical, mental, and spiritual health.

RIPE 89 Local Hubs
We want to help people who can’t physically join a RIPE Meeting to participate remotely and in a more engaging way. Local Hubs are in-person gatherings that take place in parallel to the RIPE Meeting.

On-site Childcare
This initiative aims to make it easier for parents in the RIPE community to participate fully in a meeting. We partner with professional childcare organisations to provide a safe, fun and diverse play space at the RIPE Meeting venue with a programme that changes daily. Childcare is available for children of ages from 6 months to 10 years.
For online attendees, we have put together some activities to keep your little ones occupied while you attend the meeting.

Mentoring Programme
For the past 25 years, RIPE Meetings have brought together thousands of people interested in Internet operations, policy and governance. As the RIPE community evolves, it is important that everyone feels welcome and comfortable participating, regardless of technical ability or career level.
